3 Things You Must Do to Make Money Online

Regardless of what type of internet business you have, there are three things every serious webpreneur must do to improve business online. It does not really matter whether you run an e-commerce site, an affiliate marketing site, or a blog. Following these tips will enhance your ranking, sales and natural traffic from the major search engines:

1) Be sure to regularly write UNIQUE content for your site. Use a page named for the article title (see the name of this page, for example). Avoid recycled articles since search engines may penalize your site. Avoid distributing the same article to multiple sites, or multiple pages within the same site. Writing unique content is probably the number one thing you can do to ensure that your internet business receives natural traffic from search engines such as Google and Bing, and that your visitors are targeted and interested in your product or message. Just be sure to provide subject-relevant articles and information that is useful to your readers. If you are selling products, be sure to provide one or two keywords within the page that link to a sales page for the item. If you are not a good writer, or do not have the time to write, consider hiring freelance writers from Constant-Content.com.

2) Make sure your site is compliant with P3P standards and Google guidelines. This is especially important if you participate in affiliate programs since recent versions of Internet Explorer tend to automatically block cookies on sites that are non-compliant (meaning that potential sales will not be tracked). You can find out how to make your website P3P compliant by visiting w3.org/P3P/details.html. Simply perform an internet search on "google guidelines" to learn more about the most current site recommendations from Google.

3) Analyze your site's traffic. Do you know how your visitors are finding your site? In order to improve your marketing efforts and the usefulness of your site, you must be able to track what sources your visitors come from, what pages they visit most frequently, and what search terms are producing your online sales. Using a service such as Google Analytics can help you hone-in on profitable referral sources, easily install search scripts and analyze keywords to find out what your visitors are looking for. It then becomes easier to provide content that your visitors actually want. Clearly, this helps to keep potential customers on your site longer, so you can sell more stuff.

To summarize, your internet business can thrive online as long as you provide unique content that your visitors find helpful, create a compliant site and effectively analyze and respond to your incoming traffic.
